Arc ONLY accesses screen content when you tap a sidebar button (AI Summary, AI Read, Save Content, Custom Action, Chat, AI Writer, Flashcards, Smart Extract, or Call Insights) - never in the background. Screen text is processed for AI responses but never stored on our servers. All saved content, chat history, flashcards, call insights, Info Vault, and custom actions are stored securely in protected local storage on your device. Optional Google Drive backup gives you complete control over your data.
App Management: Arc automatically blocks itself in nearly 400 sensitive apps (banking, crypto, password managers) by default. You can customize which apps Arc works with in Settings.

Do I need to create an account?
No! You can use Arc as a guest. Google Sign-In is optional and only needed for cloud backup and community features (publishing actions).
Does Arc monitor my screen in the background?
Absolutely not. Arc only accesses screen content when you explicitly tap a button in the sidebar. It never monitors your screen passively.
Are screenshots automatically captured?
No. Screenshots require your explicit permission and are only taken when you initiate an action that needs them. You control screenshot capture for each feature.
Which apps work with Arc?
Arc works with virtually any app on your device - browsers, social media, email, documents, and more. However, Arc automatically disables itself in nearly 400 sensitive apps (banking, crypto, password managers) by default. You can customize this in Settings > App Management.
Is my data private?
Yes. Screen content is processed for AI responses but never stored on our servers. Your saved content, chat history, and custom actions stay on your device unless you choose Google Drive backup. See our Privacy Policy for details.
What are Custom Actions?
Custom Actions let you create your own AI commands. Write a prompt like "Translate to Spanish" or "Explain like I'm 5" and save it to your sidebar for one-tap access. You can also enable screenshot capture and web search for each action.
What are Community Actions?
Community Actions are AI actions shared by other Arc users. You can browse, search, and add them to your sidebar with one tap. You can also publish your own Custom Actions to help others. Your email will be visible when you publish.
How does Chat with AI work?
Chat lets you have conversations about content on your screen. Tap the Chat button in the sidebar, and you can ask questions, get clarifications, or explore topics further. You can also attach screenshots to your messages for visual context and copy any AI response.
What is AI Writer?
AI Writer helps you write, edit, and respond to messages across any app. It has four modes: Rewrite (change tone), Fix Grammar (one-click proofreading), Reply (generate contextual responses), and Create Post (generate posts for social media platforms). You can also store personal context in My Info Vault to personalize AI responses, and access your previous AI Writer responses anytime.
How do Flashcards work?
Tap the Flashcards button in the sidebar and Arc will generate study flashcards from the content on your screen. You can preview the flashcards before saving them, build a library of flashcard sets, and review them anytime to retain what you learn.
What is AI Call Insights?
AI Call Insights analyzes your call recordings to provide transcriptions, summaries, action items, and key insights. It offers two modes: Manual Upload lets you pick and process individual audio files, while Auto Analysis monitors folders you explicitly select and processes new recordings automatically. Auto Analysis only works when you set it up and can only read folders you grant access to — it cannot access files outside those folders. Audio files are processed via AI and never stored on our servers. Requires audio file access permission on Android 13+.
What is Smart Extract?
Smart Extract scans your screen and intelligently extracts actionable items like events, reminders, deadlines, contacts, meeting links, locations, verification codes, phone numbers, and email addresses. You can then take action on each item with one tap — add to calendar, set a reminder, save a contact, and more.
